Forum Title: Multiple color charge?
I tried the search but didn't really see any other threads on this specific topic. I work for a custom home builder doing homes ranging from around 3,000 sq ft on up thru 6,000 sq ft. When I bid the jobs I bid for 1 color ceilings and trim and 1 main wall color. Once in a while a homeowner will ask for an extra color in a bedroom or two and I do that for no extra charge. However, once in awhile I run into a house where the homeowner wants a ton of different colors. In the case of the house I'm currently doing there's 9 different wall colors in a 6000 sq ft house. Apparently my builder gave them allowance for 5. So my question is: In custom new home construction do you add a charge for multiple colors? If so how much? If not why? I know it's going to slightly bump my material costs and labor because I have to swap between 9 different colors throughout the job and at punch out. I've gone around with my builder about this in the past and it never seems to get resolved. I feel like i should give them a flat cost, a per color upgrade cost, if you will. Thoughts?

When doing custom homes, you charge to paint the whole house with one color for trim, one for ceiling and one for walls. Every other stuff done in a different color is charge extra. What's your location?
